WAY GOES VIRTUAL

Neo WAY is a global virtual event aimed at teenagers in the 13-17 age group, along the lines of the original WisdomAccelerator.org “live” format hosted in Davos during the World Economic Forum (WEF) week.

There are many definitions of wisdom across cultures and to keep things simple we could say that it is “doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons”.

During WAY events like Neo, guest speakers share stories about their past/present/future with a teenager’s perspective in mind – while focusing on how those personal experiences made them wiser over the years.

Individual Neo WAY events are called “blocks” (like LEGO) and last four hours each in total. In the majority of cases every hour is composed of two speakers talking for 20 minutes each, followed by a Play Break (team games, cool clips, etc) also lasting 20 minutes – totalling eight speakers and four breaks per block of four hours. There are four blocks per weekend, two on Saturday 30 May and two on Sunday 31 May.

Participants can apply to attend more than one block (for instance both Saturday and Sunday), but because of time zone differences if you live in Asia or in the Americas you will notice that one of the blocks available is in the middle of the night!

Those living in Europe, Middle East and Africa should be able to join all four blocks if desired. As a selected Neo WAY participant you can also request to watch the sessions you could not attend later as most of them will be recorded. For the moment a good level of English is required to join these events, but if you can’t understand something during the talks (difficult accents, etc) it is always possible to watch the recordings later with automatically generated close captioning subtitles (also in English).

If you’d like to apply to join one or more Neo WAY blocks in May, please prepare beforehand to briefly answer the following questions when making your application:

  • Who’s the wisest person you know (of any age) and why?
  • Share a situation which made you wiser in the past.
  • What’s the funniest joke you know which is also related to wisdom learning?

Candidates accepted for Neo WAY events receive an individual Zoom invitation link. Please don’t share it as there’s an official guest list.

All others not joining us this time are most welcome to follow our sessions via YouTube Live and to ask questions there – the link will soon be available on WisdomAccelerator.org and here.

This month we also have a special event for Singapore on Friday 29 May, replacing the live event which had to be postponed until 2021 because of the lockdown situation. It is mainly promoted to teenagers based in the ASEAN region, but all are welcome to apply via this link: tiny.cc/NeoSG.

The main Global Neo WAY event is on the weekend of 30-31 May and applications can be submitted via this link: tiny.cc/NeoGlobal.

We are planning to host more events the last weekend of every month (27-28 June is the next edition), so make sure you check this site later on for updates.

Hope to see you there!

(Global Neo WAY Event)

WORKING AROUND TIME ZONES

Detailed Global Neo WAY planning per time zone – program times are highlighted in yellow below, events start at the times highlighted in orange:

For instance, the Europe/Asia block starts at 07:00 in Iceland and ends at 23:00 in New Zealand, while the Americas/Europe block starts at 07:00 in Alaska and ends at 23:00 in the Gulf Countries.

This dual daily event repartition effectively covers 21 time zones, where around 99.5% of the 7.8 billion people in the world live today (apologies to those in Hawaii and some Pacific Island countries).
